Mission

Resonance Works is an artist-driven, multi-modal performing arts company dedicated to exploring the confluence of artist, audience, music, and space through performances that empower musicians and engage audiences.

Resonance Works showcases an orchestra, chorus, vocal soloists, chamber musicians, staged opera, and musical theater – often on the same program. Featuring repertoire that is championed by its artists and themes that resonate with the current climate, Resonance Works connects the arts to today’s audience.

Drawing on the diverse genres of classical music makes Resonance Works unique in Pittsburgh. We are whatever we need to be - orchestra, opera company, choir, new music ensemble, and more - to enrich our community by bringing unique and meaningful musical experiences to a variety of neighborhoods and audiences.

Founded in 2013, the company has quickly become an important part of the professional arts ecosystem in Pittsburgh, and is committed to maintaining a rich and vibrant community of professional musicians in the region. Our model has also led to numerous artistic partnerships in dance, theatre, photography, and visual art, as well as collaborations with community organizations. 

Exciting collaborators

Our multi-modal programming has included work with artistic partners such as: Texture Contemporary Ballet, the cello rock band Cello Fury, the University of Pittsburgh Department of Theatre Arts, Pittsburgh’s Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) High School, the voice department of Slippery Rock University, photographer Chuck Beard, painter Baron Batch, the Homewood Cemetery Historical Fund, and guest artists including Pittsburgh Symphony trumpeter Neal Berntsen and principal flutist Lorna McGhee, flamenco dancer Fanny Ara (seen on NBC’s “World of Dance”), members of the Pittsburgh Youth Chorus, and internationally renowned Baroque flutist Stephen Schultz.

By the end of the 2019-2020 season we will have performed in: Shadyside, Downtown, East Liberty, the North Side, the South Side, Regent Square, Point Breeze, Oakland, Squirrel Hill, the Strip District, Homestead, Wexford, and in Foxburg, PA.
