After almost 2 years, Resonance Works has returned to live performance, but you can enjoy the music from your favorite device! Back to the Future featured Pittsburgh premieres of works inspired by past musical traditions from around the world, written byfour of today’s most important living composers: Missy Mazzoli, Chen Yi, Jessie Montgomery, and Gabriela Lena Frank.  

Guest soloist Jeffrey Turner, former principal double bass of the Pittsburgh Symphony, stretches his instrument to the limit asthe soloist in Missy Mazzoli’s Dark with Excessive Bright, which leverages the total range of expressive possibilities of the doublebass. The spectrum of colors and way that the bass sings through this soulful music will blow you away!

Performances were filmed and recorded at the Greer Cabaret Theater in downtown Pittsburgh on November 13 & 14, 2021.
