We are thrilled to introduce Clare Longendyke as Resonance Works’ first ever Executive Director. Clare comes to us from The University of Chicago, where she served as Artist in Residence and Director of Chamber Music.

Clare exudes a contagious passion for inspiring audiences to forge deeper connections to classical music. In her work as an arts administrator and entrepreneur, she has advocated for creative placemaking and pioneered new ways to connect artists and audiences to their communities. She blends a passion for music’s classical tradition with an equal affection for the music of our time and dedicates much of her work as a performer to exploring the music of living composers. Her advocacy for innovative music and programming are evident through Music in Bloom, the new music summer festival she founded in Indianapolis in 2019. That same year, Clare’s efforts to bring innovative musical experiences to public places and historic sites earned her a nomination for the Indianapolis Business Journal’s Women of Influence award. She balances an active international career as a concert pianist with her work as an administrator, creating space for artists to thrive within the Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, and greater Midwest cultural communities. Prior to joining Resonance Works, Clare served as Administrative Director for the Boston-based art song organization, Calliope’s Call, and co-Artistic Director of Music in Bloom.

“Resonance Works has been a model of resiliency through this challenging time for arts organizations across the country. I am so impressed with how the organization continued sharing innovative musical programming with its audiences, and continued supporting its artists despite the obstacles caused by the pandemic,” she commented. “I am proud to steward the organization alongside Artistic & General Director Maria Sensi Sellner as we continue Resonance Works’ mission to enrich the Pittsburgh community through innovative musical experiences that engage audiences and empower artists while normalizing equity and diversity through intentional programming.”
